Shakira Scores Record Earnings From Miami Concerts

Shakira’s El Dorado World Tour has marched across Europe, Asia and Latin America throughout 2018, but it's six new reports from the tour's North American leg that land her on the Hot Tours recap (see below) dated Nov. 3, 2018. According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, the Latin superstar is No. 5 on the latest tally with $7.9 million in the bank and 69,552 tickets sold.

The El Dorado World Tour is Shakira’s grand return to the stage, ending her seven-year absence since The Sun Comes Out World Tour in 2010-11. Her time away has paid off, as she averages $1.28 million per show across 18 North American reports, up from the $970,000 average of the 2010 tour. The tour’s high mark was the two-night stint at Miami’s American Airlines Arena on Aug. 17-18. There, Shakira brought in $2.8 million, making it the third highest-grossing engagement of her career, her largest ever in the continental U.S. and the venue’s biggest in 2018. (Her only other engagement in the U.S. to tally bigger earnings was at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan on Oct. 14-15, 2011.)

Shakira’s 2018 tour is named after her album El Dorado, released on May 26, 2017. The record features the crossover hitmaker singing mostly in Spanish and resulted in her seventh No. 1 album on Billboard’s Latin Pop Albums chart. Aside from the commercial success of the album and the tour that followed, Shakira has added to her trophy case, winning a Grammy Award (best Latin pop album), Latin Grammy Award (best contemporary pop vocal album), Latin Billboard Music Award (Latin pop album of the year) and an iHeartRadio Music Award (Latin album of the year)
