Britney Spears has canceled her forthcoming Las Vegas residency after her father was hospitalized and almost died.
The pop star, 37, was due to begin her ‘Britney: Domination’ concerts at Park Theater inside the new Park MGM resort on February 13.
Captioning an Instagram throwback photo
of her with her parents, Spears wrote: “I don’t even know where to
start with this, because this is so tough for me to say.
“I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart.

“However, it’s important to always put
your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make. A couple of
months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died.
We’re all so grateful that he came out of
it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the
difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this
time.”
Spears’ father, Jamie was rushed into
surgery after his colon spontaneously ruptured, a press statement reads.
Jamie is now he recuperating at home and is expected to make a full
recovery. The news means that Spears is taking an indefinite work
hiatus.
The pop star performed 250 shows for her
previous ‘Piece of Me’ residency, which was held at the Planet Hollywood
Resort & Casino in Las Vegas in 2013 and concluded in December
2017.
